Greek Mythology

In our print collection:

·         The best way to begin your search is to figure out keywords that may lead you to the specific information you need.  Use some of the keywords listed below are examples when searching the Internet or our online catalog:

·         Greek god; Greek goddess
If possible, give the specific name: Poseidon, Minerva, Aphrodite, Zeus

·         Greek legends; Greek mythology
If possible, give the specific legend: Oedipus Rex, Agamemnon

·         Greek heroes
If possible, give the specific name: Odysseus, Helena

·         Greek mythological creatures (or monsters)
If possible, give the specific name: Cyclops; Pegasus; minotaur

·         Specific events or key ideas: Trojan horse, Achilles’ heel

·         Be sure to read the list of books we have in our collection.

·         Look in the stacks for books cataloged under 292 for Greek Mythology.  Don’t forget to check the reference aisle for these same call numbers beginning with R or RS or RB.

  • Check the general encyclopedias (i.e. World Book, Compton’s, and others) by first using the index (usually found in the last volume).

There is also a helpful listing of further internet sources concerning mythology of Greece and Rome.
