The mission of the Rich Central High School Media Center is to encourage and support life-long learning, literacy, and independent thinking and to ensure that students and staff are effective, self-reliant, and critical users of ideas and information utilizing traditional resources, along with current and emerging technologies.
Under the leadership of the Media Center Director and with the support of the Media Center Assistants, the Media Center upholds and facilitates resource-based instruction, personal inquiries, integration of technology into the curriculum, staff collaboration, team teaching, and relevancy in curriculum and instruction.
(To collaborate with educators by fully integrating the Media Center program into a class lesson, faculty may complete a "Collaborative Planning Sheet" to submit to the Media Center Director prior to a class visit. This will foster a clear understanding of what resources will be needed and what the student expectations are during a class visit to the Media Center.)
In sum, we provide our students and faculty the print and non-print resources that support the successful completion of school projects and the development of information literacy.
The Media Center's Goals
-
To provide intellectual and physical access to resources in a multitude of print and non-print formats.
-
To provide instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.
- To collaborate with other educators to fully integrate the Media Center program into the school's curriculum.
