About the Pupil Personnel Services Department...

Students are invited to take advantage of the many resources available through the Pupil Personnel Department. The Guidance Department at Rich Central offers students a range of services to meet academic needs as well as address social/emotional issues. There are four guidance counselors who work with students in planning their schedules, exploring college and scholarship opportunities, administering college entrance exams and assessing students’ career interests.

Additionally, there is a full-time Career Resource Specialist who works with small groups of students in researching careers further. The Guidance areas as well as the Career Resource Center have an extensive amount of information in a variety of forms (books, computers programs and on-line services) that assist students in researching college and career interests.

Besides the guidance counselors, there is a full-time social worker who can provide added support to students and families experiencing crisis. Our school nurse provides medicationl assistance during school hours.

Rich Central has four full-time dean of students. The deans communicate with students on a regular basis regarding expectations for student behavior and attendance procedures. Also, Rich Central’s Peer Mediation program is coordinated through the Deans’ Office. This program trains students in conflict resolution and allows students to take a leadership role in working with their classmates to solve problems.
