Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Rich Central High School.  In 1961, Rich Central High School was built with more than bricks and mortar; in fact, it was built with a vision that our institution would produce the next generation of responsible citizens who will preserve our democratic way of life while building sustainable communities.  Rich Central High School continues to be a vibrant and resilient institution with a passion for academic excellence.  For nearly 50 years Rich Central High School is continuing to offer students from Olympia Fields, Matteson, Country Club Hills, portions of Tinley Park and Richton Park with quality educational experiences that transcend the classroom.  Our goals for the 2009-2010 school year are:

  1. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT-Improving ACT/Work Keys scores by 10%

  2. INTERNAL CLIMATE- Improving the culture and climate of Rich Central High School.  As well as, creating a learning environment that is conducive to increasing student achievement.

  3. EXTERNAL CLIMATE- Collaborating with various communities to promote academic achievement.  Engaging parents and community members in the educational process.

In addition to the challenges and increased expectations of the federal No Child
Left Behind Act, Rich Central High School is continuing to make academic progress.  Congratulations to the 203 Juniors of 2009, who completed both days of testing on last year’s Prairie State Achievement Exam.  Our 2009 ACT/WorkKeys data indicate that our Juniors achieved SAFE HARBOR status in the area of Reading, however, we did not meet our SAFE HARBOR goal in the area of Math.  Over a 2 year time span, our Juniors who took the ACT/WorkKeys exam have increased their reading proficiency by 10% and increased their math proficiency close to 19%!  We could not have made this level of improvement and progress without the commitment and energy of our students, parents, community members, teachers, and administrators working collaboratively as a team with a common objective.

Working together as partners in your child’s education, we will continue to focus on developing high expectations and increased academic achievement for all of our students.  Please visit Rich Central High School and tour our new administrative complex as well as, observing our teaching and learning processes.

We are RC!
